Smithfield Grange is a visually impressive Italianate mansion erected by well-known soft drink manufacturer, John Starkey.
The house was converted into numerous tenancies in the 1920s, which resulted in the compartmentalisation of the interior.
New owners sought to return the structure into a single family house and bring it back to its former glory. As part of the works, Council required a photographic archival recording be made. GBA Heritage undertook a detailed recording of each part of the house, with a particular focus on the elaborate internal paintwork that survives from its early years. Council accepted the GBA Heritage report and the project was able to continue towards a successful heritage outcome.
