Havelock House is one of the major surviving post-war accommodation buildings erected in response to the massive relocation of individual public servants to Canberra in the immediate post-war years.
It served this function for some 40 years, before being respectfully refreshed and refurbished using a multi-bedroom room, social housing configuration with shared kitchens and bathrooms layouts, in the late 1980s.
After another 40 years of service, the building needs a further upgrade to enable it to continue serving the people of Canberra. GBA Heritage prepared a comprehensive CMP to enable the relevant authorities to fully understand its evolution and potential for further change, while fully safeguarding its cultural significance.
