Following the lodgment of a proposed development for the demolition of the existing buildings at Holt Avenue, Cremorne, and the construction of a five-storey mixed-use development, the North Sydney Council placed an Interim Heritage Order over the properties to prevent their immediate demolition and to enable a detailed heritage assessment of these properties.
A thorough and detailed independent heritage peer review was undertaken by GBA Heritage and other heritage consultants, revealed that the original cottage had been so extensively altered, they did not meet the required threshold set by any of the standard assessment criteria for individual heritage listing within Schedule 5 of the North Sydney Local Environmental Plan 2013.
