Benhome Maitland

HT Building

Pender House, Maitland, also known as Benhome, was designed as a Benevolent Asylum (Hospital) and built in 1884.

Pender House is a local heritage-listed item and is now part of a larger aged care facility, recently acquired by the Royal Freemasons Benevolent Institution (RFBI).

GBA Heritage were engaged to complete a Schedule of Conservation Works to address a variety of external remediation works such as roof leaks, areas of rust, and deteriorated fabric.

An extensive schedule was prepared to guide the appropriate conservation of this urgent maintenance and repair work as well as addressing elements that will require preservation work to be completed in the near future.
