Historic Houses in Conservation Areas
Historic Houses in Heritage Conservation Areas require special attention. GBA heritage has been involved in the two below examples:
- Concord House: Potter & Wilson Architects
- Chatswood House: Playoust Churcher Architects.
Like many historic houses in Sydney and elsewhere these houses are considered as contributory items to the character and significance of the surrounding Heritage Conservation Areas.
As such any alterations and additions are typically required to be located at the rear or internally, in order to protect the contribution of the house to the streetscape and the surrounding conservation area.
GBA Heritage provided advice to the architects as the designs unfolded.
The projects were granted development approval by Canada Bay Council and Willoughby Council.
