For many shops within Sydney and elsewhere, there have been multiple internal shop fit-outs. Some retain original shopfront windows and significant shop features, while others retain little heritage fabric at ground level. Typical issues are the refub or retention of the historic shopfronts and careful design of interiors to ensure continuity of character.
GBA Heritage provides guidance and required Statements of Heritage Impact as to the appropriate integration of contemporary fit-outs and shop signage while respecting and retaining the Heritage shops’ aesthetics and features.
