Williams Building, Pacific Highway, Crows Nest

Legge & Legge Architects

This 1938 Art Deco building in a highly visible location was to be upgraded internally and added to vertically.

GBA Heritage research identified significant internal fabric and features, such as early forms of self-closing fire doors, and recommended appropriate methods of retention or alteration.

The rooftop addition defers to the classic style of the building, and reads as a natural extension of the original design.

The outcome is an attractive and respectful internal and external upgrade to a prominent feature of the Sydney streetscape.
